At Agnico Eagle, our commitment to sustainability includes contributing to the prosperity of our employees, their families, and the communities where we operate—while respecting the human rights, cultures, and values of those impacted by our activities.
This year, we are proud to share that not one, but two of our employees—Pujjuut Kusugak, Director of Nunavut Affairs, and Cameron Grant, General Supervisor, Communications, Ontario—have been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
This national honour recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada and their communities, and it reflects the very values we strive to uphold every day.
Pujjuut Kusugak: Grounded in Culture, Leading with Connection
For Pujjuut Kusugak, the medal came as a surprise—one that he humbly shares with his family and community. I was told it was due to the leadership within my community and among my people, as well as advocating for my language and culture,” he said. “My parents and grandparents are a huge part of this recognition.”
Raised in a family deeply rooted in Inuit traditions, Pujjuut’s identity and leadership are inseparable from his cultural heritage. “I grew up with family that is strong with our language and culture. This is instrumental in my identity and pride in being Inuk. My father advocated for Inuit as far back as I can remember. My mother raised me to be kind and helpful. My parents raised my siblings and I to be close. This is part of my foundation.”
In his role at Agnico Eagle, Pujjuut has worked to bridge the gap between industry and community. “My job has been about connecting people and industry. To facilitate relationships and being able to keep working together for responsible resource development,” he explained. “My job has allowed me to work with so many amazing people and learn from others. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have experienced by working for Agnico Eagle.”
Receiving the medal is a deeply personal moment for Pujjuut. “Personally, this is a humbling experience…I hope my family feels they are part of this.” Professionally, he sees it as a reflection of the collaborative spirit that defines his work.
Cameron Grant: Amplifying Northern Voices Through Service
Cameron Grant’s path to the Coronation Medal has been shaped by a lifelong commitment to community development, public policy, and regional advocacy. “Over the years, I’ve been privileged to work on initiatives focused on community development, food security, cultural preservation, and public policy,” he shared. “I’ve never pursued this work with recognition in mind, so to receive such an honour is both surprising and profoundly meaningful.”
Cameron’s work has spanned local and national platforms—from serving on the Timmins and District Hospital board to participating in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference. “I’ve been lucky to have mentors, family members, colleagues, and community leaders who believed in me, even when I didn’t fully believe in myself,” he said. “My father, a lifelong prospector and community advocate, instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility to contribute. I’ve also been inspired by volunteers, youth leaders, and grassroots organizers… They remind me that leadership isn’t about position, it’s about presence.”
At Agnico Eagle, Cameron continues to build meaningful relationships through storytelling and strategic engagement. “Professionally, I’m excited to continue growing the reach and impact of Agnico Eagle’s Ontario Regional Donations Program and to use storytelling as a tool to strengthen our relationships with community partners.”
A Shared Commitment to Community and Collaboration
Though their journeys are distinct, Pujjuut and Cameron share a common thread: a deep commitment to service, culture, and community. Their recognition with the King Charles III Coronation Medal is not only a personal honour—it’s a reflection of the values that guide Agnico Eagle every day.
We are proud to celebrate their achievements and grateful for the leadership they bring to our organization and the communities we serve.
