The LaRonde complex consists of the underground LaRonde mine, the underground LaRonde Zone 5 (LZ5) mine and the LaRonde mineral processing facility. LaRonde mine began commercial production in 1988, and LZ5 achieved commercial production in 2018, with more than 8 million ounces of gold produced from the complex to date.

The processing facility includes copper and zinc flotation in addition to precious metals recovery and refining. The processing plant produces doré bars containing gold and silver, as well as zinc and copper concentrates that carry valuable gold and silver credits. The LaRonde plant also treats concentrate pulp trucked from the Goldex mill.

Highlights

  • LaRonde mine's 2.2-km deep Penna Shaft is the deepest single-lift shaft in the Western Hemisphere, and current operations extend more than 3 km below surface using a 823-metre internal shaft.
  • The Company is continuing its automation initiatives at LZ5, improving overall productivity. For the full year 2025, approximately 22% of the ore hauled to surface was moved using automated scoops and trucks, exceeding the production target of 3,500 tpd.
  • LaRonde was recognized for its 2023 environmental and social performance, receiving the TSM Excellence Award from the Mining Association of Canada for the transition to filtered tailings management as an acknowledgement of innovative projects and initiatives that support sustainable development; and a Community Relations award from the Quebec Mining Association in recognition of the collaboration agreement with the Abitibiwinni First Nations and the Nikan Project, which facilitates integration and retention of Indigenous workers.
